Transport and volunteering
GMCVO is looking for participants in a new research project that will look at the connections between volunteering and access to transport. Findings will be published in a report in spring 2010 and will be made available to all participants.
If you are a volunteer-involving organisation located in Greater Manchester and any of the following applies to you we would like to hear from you.
• Do you think that volunteers without a car have a hard time reaching your organisation or working for you?
• Do you have trouble recruiting and retaining the types of volunteers you would like to attract or recruiting volunteers for certain roles and think that transport difficulties might play a role?
• Does your organisation face any other transport-related issue when it comes to recruiting, managing and retaining volunteers?
We also want to know if:
• your organisation has developed ways (both formal and informal) of making transport less of a headache for your volunteers;
• you are interested in sharing your organisation’s views about transport;
• you think that your organisation could benefit from advice around transport.
Participation in the project typically involves being interviewed by a member of our staff who will visit your organisation for this purpose. Interviews will take approximately one hour and are envisaged to take place from February until mid-March with findings produced in early April. However, if you just want to share your views on the subject without being interviewed, we would still be interested to hear from you.
