Greater Manchester congestion charge proposals will go to a referendum
AGMA (the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities) has agreed to a public referendum on the Transport Innovation Fund proposals, more commonly known as the 'congestion charge'. The results will be broken down on a borough-by-borough basis and if people in at least seven out of the ten Greater Manchester authorities agree to the proposals, which include the introduction of a peak-time only congestion charge, then the plans will go ahead.
The referendum will take place in December, following the consultation period. The exact mechanism for the voting is yet to be announced.
