CRB disclosure service for Greater Manchester groups
If your organisation works with children or vulnerable adults, it may be necessary for paid staff and volunteers to undergo Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosure checks.
CRB checks are designed to help organisations make safer recruitment decisions by identifying candidates who may be unsuitable for certain areas of work, especially those involving contact with vulnerable people.
Checks for voluntary sector organisations working in these areas can be carried out by ‘umbrella bodies’ registered with the CRB. In Greater Manchester, one of the organisations offering this service is Volunteer Centre Tameside.
A fee of £54 is payable for staff checks, which includes the CRB disclosure. Checks on volunteers carry no fee, but are still subject to a £10 administrative charge payable to Volunteer Centre Tameside.
