Discounted building materials available to voluntary sector
Charity and community projects seeking low-cost building materials are invited to register with Recipro, an online network designed to move surplus construction materials into projects which require them.
Recipro recently launched a North West centre in Wirral which accepts surplus and reusable materials from major construction projects in the region, as well as end-of-line stock from builders’ merchants. These materials are accepted into the centre with the express intention of moving them into community and charity projects, at between 20 and 40 per cent of the retail price.
Any recognised good cause – including schools, colleges, charities and church halls etc – can register free for materials and list their project along with a ‘wish list’ of materials. Construction companies benefit from the service through reductions in waste and associated costs, detailed in comprehensive carbon and waste reduction reports, as well as social impact reports demonstrating the benefit the donated material has provided to the local community.
