New commissioning guide from NAVCA
A new guide to commissioning for development workers will be launched by NAVCA in early May.
The commissioning of local public services and the impact on communities and organisations is as important as ever. This guide is aimed at people who play some role in supporting voluntary and community organisations to navigate the often complex world of local commissioning.
It covers:
• What commissioning is;
• Why it is important for development workers;
• Ways of supporting organisations;
• Ideas for working with the public sector.
There are also useful checklists on developing effective local networks, gathering relevant evidence for tendering and working out what you need to know.
Copies of A beginner's guide to commissioning will be sent free of charge to all NAVCA members. Other organisations can order hard copies (£10 each) by contacting lcpu@navca.org.uk.
