New code to avoid trustee conflict

Trustees should prevent potential board conflicts becoming personal by introducing a code of conduct when things are going well, according to a new guide from Charity Trustee Networks.
The booklet, which was launched by new third sector minister Kevin Brennan on 19th November, says that small charities need only "some basic ground rules for behaviour".
It includes advice on how to develop and use codes of conduct in an organisation, signposts to other resources and has case studies demonstrating how other charities have used codes of conduct.
The guide was written following a series of workshops and events with trustees, a web-based survey, and interviews with a range of consultants, experts and trustees.
Codes of Conduct for Trustees can be downloaded free from the CTN website (link below).
