Mobilising Volunteers:  Transport to Involvement and Opportunity in Greater Manchester

Volunteering – as an altruistic activity that helps bind communities, as a vehicle for delivering services and other activities that deliver benefits to residents and communities, and as an element of a pathway to employment – is a concept that has been given a huge amount of attention this year, particularly against the background of the Government’s ‘Big Society’ agenda.

GMCVO’s report 'Mobilising Volunteers: Transport to Involvement and Opportunity' explores how access to transport for volunteers, volunteer involving organisations and volunteering infrastructure is a key issue in supporting volunteering as a path to involvement, and how this is particularly important in relation to engaging residents from our most deprived communities.
