Department for Transport publication evaluates the accessibility of public transport for disabled people
A research report evaluating the accessibility of land-based public transport, has recently been published by the Department for Transport. The report looks at the accessibility of different modes, including trains, trams, buses, coaches, private hire vehicles (PHVs) and taxis, for disabled people.
Human Engineering Limited and Guide Dogs for the Blind Associaion were commissioned to carry out this research, which included physical audits in Manchester, consultations with public transport users in Stockport and mystery shopper surveys by users with a range of different disabilities.
