Small grants for groups to promote sustainable transport in Manchester
The Transport Thematic Partnership is inviting voluntary and community sector groups to bid into a small grants pot for projects which promote sustainable transport.
The following criteria apply:
- Project to be directly managed and delivered by a community or voluntary sector group or organisation based in Manchester
- Direct contribution to meeting one or more of the TTP’s targets
- Direct promotion of one or more sustainable modes of transport, targeted at Manchester residents, businesses and other organisations
- Clearly defined and measurable outputs from the project in terms of: Mode shift and/or Supporting existing sustainable transport use
- Direct opportunity to involve / work with another partner(s)
- Reflect the current transport issues that affect the city
- Involve as diverse a range of transport modes, groups and area(s) as possible, with preference given to projects which can demonstrate a greater level of involvement / modes / areas covered.
Examples of projects that may qualify include:
- Walking or cycling 'campaign' within your local community
- Sustainable travel planning for a local community facility
- Working with local residents on journey planning and/or other incentives to change travel behaviour
- Joint working with public transport operators or other partners to promote sustainable travel
- Community bike rental / training / accompanied rides to encourage new bike riders
- Community public transport 'champions' to provide information, advice and promotional activities
Groups wishing to submit a funding request are required to complete a short application form and return this to the Transport Policy Unit at Manchester City Council. The application form and criteria can be downloaded below. Please note that projects have to be wholly within the City of Manchester by organisations also based within the city.
