Supporting representation
GMCVO has a role to provide a range of information tailored to the needs of the Greater Manchester voluntary sector, and also to represent the interests, needs and concerns of the voluntary sector and its clients at sub-regional, regional and national levels.
Our work around supporting representation aims to:
• enable local voluntary organisations to be consulted and engaged in debate, in partnerships and in public service delivery
• ensure the local voluntary sector is placed to influence sub-regional policy and strategy at the very highest level in a range of significant areas (especially health, learning, employment, transport and environment)
• ensure issues of access and inclusion are built into all sub-regional action planning in a way that is both achievable and accountable, to strengthen the voice of the voluntary sector in Greater Manchester
• enhance the contribution of the voluntary sector in the context of addressing inequalities, building cohesion, and commissioning and procurement
• research the capacity and characteristics of the sector and developing the sector's ability to engage with a range of partners from the public/private and voluntary sector.
