GM VCSE workshop: 'An introduction to co-production'

Thursday 9th August 2018

The workshop event held on the 9th August was designed to be an introduction to co-production from a VCSE, statutory and academic perspective and a workshop for delegates to explore how the GM VCSE sector could start to put these ideas into practice, whatever their level of understanding or current level of involvement in this area.

The event was followed by an optional Research Focus group whose aim was to understand, explore and share views about how best to design a study that can capture good practice in terms of service user value co-creation in VCSE organisations. The focus group lasted for 1 hour.

Research Focus Group: How VCSE organisations involve service users in the co-design, planning, delivery and evaluation of their services

Thursday 9th August 2018

The aim of the focus group was to understand and share views about how best to design a study to capture good practice in terms of service user value co-creation in VCSE organisations. The focus group lasted an 1 hour during which delegates were asked to respond to some structured questions about research design and engagement with the sector as well as having the opportunity to engage in wider discussion around the feasibility and value of the study, and how data may be collected.

The two researchers involved in the study were Susanne Martikke at GMCVO and Professor Claire Hannibal at Manchester Metropolitan University. The results of the focus group will be used to bid for funding to allow Susanne and Claire to carry out the proposed research.
