GM Health & Employment Programme VCSE Co-design Assembly
Tuesday 17th October 2017
This event took place as a result of The Greater Manchester Combined Authority and the NHS in Greater Manchester work to develop a new ‘early help’ service for people with health conditions and/or impairments who are either newly unemployed or at risk of falling out of employment. In the absence of a systematic early intervention pathway to prevent people with health conditions falling out of work and 98% of GM employers are SMEs or self-employed with limited or no access to occupational healthcare, the objective of this new service was to test a new approach to support to help people return to work more quickly.
As the service was in the early stages of development, delegates from the GM VCSE sector were invited to contribute to the design of the service at this event which would recap on the thinking to date regarding the development of this new service, followed by discussion around a number of key issues including;
• The need for a service like this
• The barriers to remaining in work & what support is currently available to people in GM
• The delivery model and the role the VCSE could play ?
• Scope of the proposed service
• The commissioning strategy
