Gorse Hill Studios is a youth arts charity that believes that all young people have the right to social, emotional and cultural investment in their future. They work with young people to build their self-esteem by taking an active role in their community, and supporting them to build pathways for their future.
They deliver work around three themes; youth voice, creative engagement, and education and learning.
In 2022, Gorse Hill Studios received £60,000 in social investment from our Access to Growth fund towards the refurbishment of their music studio, including new equipment and related staffing costs.
The investment allowed them to grow their income streams as a social business by renting out their studio and facilities, enabling them to apply for larger contracts, partner with music education providers to use their space, and the potential for the provision of professional recording and editing services.
The music studio at Gorse Hill Studios offers local young people the chance to engage with music and develop their interests, to build relationships, and grow their self-esteem. Gorse Hill Studios provides a vital point of access into music production for young people in Greater Manchester, and continues to create opportunities and grow career prospects.

Access to Growth was part of The Growth Fund; a £50m partnership between The National Lottery Community Fund and Big Society Capital, delivered by Access through a range of social investors, it aims to address gaps in the social investment market and support charities and social enterprises across England to grow and create social impact in their communities.
