Kimberley Drain and Stephanie Evans share their Proper Good story with us:
We first heard about Proper Good from Simone through networking and The Goodness Collective.
Since then, we’ve been involved in lots of ways;
-
Steph pitched and won at the Chapati n Change community soup style Proper Good event (our first funded project as a newly founded CIC social enterprise!) The money went to delivering a creative wellbeing Thread Journal workshop project to local postnatal support group Stockport PANDAS..
-
Coworking sessions by Proper Good - we made great connections and learned more about running a CIC from talking to others who attended.
-
Kimmy delivered a self-care and journal workshop at the Chocolate n Chill Proper Good event. This was also a brilliant networking opportunity with local businesses and fellow CIC owners.
-
We find the Proper Good funded Indie Bookkeepers classes invaluable and this has taught us about keeping organised with the financial side of running a CIC. Louise is a brilliant workshop leader, I have learnt so much!
-
Sessions funded by Proper Good with Hannah Hodgson Small Business Support have helped us understand more about funding applications, the processes of running a CIC and real world practical solutions for communicating effectively what our CIC can offer.
-
The Proper Good conference was a great way to learn more about the great businesses that do good for their community in Stockport. Kimmy delivered one of the workshops on The Power of Productivity at the conference.
The community of Proper Good people that run and attend the events are a real support to our CIC journey. It has been a great way of connecting with other CIC owners and the workshops have been on practical and relevant topics to help our social reach and impact grow.
We find the support of the community of fellow CIC’s met through the Proper Good workshops, coworking and networking invaluable. It has been lovely to cheer each other on and learn from their journeys too.
We connected with businesses at The Proper Good Business Conference and have had workshop enquiries from businesses we connected with on the day. This was such a powerful opportunity to feel inspired with the talks and workshops and connect with people who value their local area too.
During the small business support sessions funded by Proper Good I had so many lightbulb moments about how we can get the best out of running a CIC. The support has been incredible, and we feel so lucky to have such great insight in our first year of running Self-Care creatives CIC.
I have seen other fellow participants grow in confidence and celebrate their achievements during the small business support sessions. It has been a joy to see people achieve their potential, get funding they have applied for and grow in self-belief as the series of sessions have progressed.
We have a better understanding of running and growing our CIC since engaging in the Proper Good funded training workshops such as the Indie Bookkeepers and The Small Group Support sessions. We have developed a comprehensive understanding of how we can grow our creative services to help the community.
My belief that we can succeed in applying for funding for our community project has improved since engaging with Proper Good support. It has been great to connect and feel inspired by fellow social entrepreneurs we have met through the Proper Good community soup events, co-working sessions and the Proper Good Business Conference.
In the future, It would be great to see the Proper Good Business Conference back again, I can see this growing from strength to strength and so many amazing collaborations taking place because of this conference and community.
We feel very lucky to have had Proper Good support for the very start of our CIC journey. It has helped us have a thorough understanding of social investment and how we can make a difference to our local community. As a relatively new CIC the support from Proper Good has made such a huge difference to our understanding, reach and ambition for our social enterprise. It has been a brilliant way to connect with fellow social entrepreneurs, local businesses and to the training and development we may not otherwise be able to afford.
Proper Good is such a supportive programme and it has positive impacts on our local community and way we run our CIC. Thank you!
