Is charity tax relief benefiting the right charities? Have your say..

** EVENT CANCELLED DUE TO LOW NUMBERS - HOWEVER YOU CAN STILL HAVE YOUR SAY HERE **

The Charity Tax Commission is investigating whether charitable tax reliefs could be used more strategically to produce better outcomes for beneficiaries. This is a chance to influence the commission’s recommendations before it is too late.

Tax reliefs for charities are estimated to be worth £3.77bn a year, the main ones being business rates relief, Gift Aid and VAT relief. But are the right charities benefiting?

Should we distinguish between charities in terms of size, purpose, demonstrable impact, or geographical location? The commission wants to explore bold ideas for reform.

This is a public evidence session being held in partnership with NCVO. Members of the Commission will be in attendance.

The Commission would like to hear from local organisations and people including VCSE and faith organisations and businesses, researchers and councillors.
