A workshop to support commissioners, from across Greater Manchester (GM), to harness the collective strength of the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector in rising to the challenge of responding to and supporting community recovering from the Coronavirus disease (Covid 19) pandemic.
VCSE organisations have been an integral part of the communities of GM for over 200 years and in the current situation it is increasingly essential that the sector in included as an indispensible part of the system, planning and resourcing of services. VCSE and public sector services are co-dependent and if we are to rise to the challenge of addressing the needs of communities in these extraordinary times we will work together. The commissioning process is key to achieving this.
Using a mix of presentation, practical examples and discussion, during the workshop, we will use the recommendations from the GM VCSE Commissioning Framework and Delivery Plan to explore how the public and VCSE sector can bring together the best of both sectors and ways of working to make a meaningful difference to people lives.
The GM VCSE Commissioning Framework and Delivery Plan is a key strategic document developed through an extensive consultation process, with VCSE organisations and GM Commisioners, by the Greater Manchester VCSE Leadership Group and the Joint Comissioning Team of the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership. It was endorsed by the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Commissioning Board, the Public Reform Board and the GM Directors of Commissioners during January and February 2020.
