Leading GM VCSE – Collaborative Leadership

Are you a VCSE leader interested in sharing your leadership experiences with people from the public sector? 

We need a team of VCSE leaders to meet public sector leaders at our upcoming event (timings and details below). Delegates will have the opportunity to learn about each other’s leadership styles, and share stories of how they became the leaders they are. At our event you will meet other people with an interest in developing their leadership skills and make connections with people from the public sector.

GM VCSE Assembly: Building a Community for Co-Production

Following the success of our 'Introduction to Co-Production' event held in August 2018, this event will bring together people from across the VCSE, health and social care sectors who are currently or want to be building a new relationship with each other and with citizens through co-production.

Invitation to join co production group at GM Health and Social Care Partnership

Would you like to be part of strategic co-production in the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership?

The Person and Community Centred Approaches team is looking for people to join their co-production group. Their work is trying to make sure people in Greater Manchester feel listened to by health and social care services, have more choice and control, and for communities to be recognised as at the heart of what keeps us happy and well. The monthly meetings are in central Manchester from 10am-2.30pm, lunch and all out-of-pocket expenses are provided.

MICRA seminar - The impact and benefits of treating hearing and vision problems for people living with dementia

Thursday 22nd November 2018, Manchester M13 9GH, 13:00 to 16:00 (free networking lunch included) (Free)

Hearing and vision impairments cause difficulties with daily living activities for people living with dementia and impact on communication.  The SENSE-cog sensory intervention is currently being tested as a therapeutic approach, comparing outcomes for those who undertake this new treatment versus those who receive care as usual.

Advancing equalities across GM Roadshow

Open to organisations across all sectors working in the Oldham, Rochdale, Bury and Tameside areas, this GM Roadshow event will take place on Wednesday 28 November  at the Werneth Conference Suite and will be opened by the Lord Mayor of Oldham, Javid Iqbal.

Tuesday 11th December 2018 12:30pm – 16:00pm (Lunch included) Bury, BL9 7BQ  (Free)

A Greater Manchester-wide Mental Health Network has been established which will support the delivery of quality outcomes associated with the implementation of the overall Greater Manchester Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy. The focus of this session will be on adult mental health.  We will hear about a number of the adult mental health programmes and projects that are being implemented.  There will also be opportunities to support the development of these programmes and projects and discuss successes and challenges and how these may be overcome.

Resilience in an Ageing Greater Manchester: Report Published

Ambition for Ageing has released a report titled Resilience in Ageing in Greater Manchester, looking at the needs of older people in resilience planning. The report explores the importance of recognising the impact different marginalising characteristics (such as ethnicity and class) can have on a person’s resilience when putting in plans around resilience and makes recommendations on how policy makers can support the needs of older people across Greater Manchester.

Greater Manchester’s Plans for Good Employment, Jobs and Growth

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is currently developing a Good Employment Charter, they are also working with the Government to develop a Local Industrial Strategy. It is important that both the Good Employment Charter and the Local Industrial Strategy are based on the views and needs of anyone who is interested in the future prosperity and growth of our city-region. We therefore encourage VCSE organisations to participate in both surveys.

Greater Manchester Universities to offer more mental health support to students

Greater Manchester will be the first place in the country to establish a dedicated centre to help support higher education students with mental health needs thanks to a new partnership between the region’s four universities and the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership.

The new service will offer innovative and accessible treatment, looking at digital technology such as virtual clinics, to university students experiencing mental illness, for example eating disorders and severe depression.
