We held really positive Good Employment week themed working group meeting at the end of last month, and we will be suggesting the inclusion of 'inclusive' as a new category of the GM Good Employment Charter at the final event of the Good Employment Week. Join us for a screening of Can I Live? - a vital digital performance about the climate catastrophe conceived, written and performed by Fehinti Balogun who shares his personal journey into the biggest challenge of our times. Fehinti charts a course through the fundamental issues underpinning the emergency, identifying the intimate relationship between the environmental crisis & the global struggle for social justice, and sharing how, as a young Black British man, he has found his place in the climate movement.

The Community Action Network is a new initiative aiming to connect LGBTQ+ community members with research, projects and opportunities that matter to them, with the aim of building better LGBTQ+ data sets, and using this to develop more inclusive services.

We are looking for people to join our team who are either caregivers for older people who are frail and take many medicines, or are older people themselves who are frail and take many medicines. You will play an active role throughout the project and collaborate closely with our research team. Your tasks will include helping to design the recruitment process and documents, translating research findings into simple
terms for the public, engaging with community members from various ethnic backgrounds and deprived areas, and sharing research with different social groups,
including those who are often overlooked.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is working with Manchester City Council (MCC) to improve journeys for people around Manchester, including to and from the city centre, with a focus on catching the bus, walking, wheeling, and cycling. We want you to tell us about your experiences on the transport network within the Manchester City Council boundary, where we should invest and what would make your journeys better, to help us make the right improvements. This could be any type of journey such as going to work, school, shopping or taking part in leisure activities.

GMCVO are delivering a fifth year of GM Mental Wellbeing Grants programme with funding from Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership.

Resolve Poverty have launched new research on the prevalence of local authority anti-poverty strategies across England. It finds that councils in the north of England and in areas with high levels of poverty are more like to have an anti-poverty strategy in place.

What is co-production? What does it mean to have a health and care system that prioritises equity, inclusion and the voices of service users?

Jo Vigor is joined by Clenton Farquharson CBE, who shares his leadership journey and reflects on how his personal experience of navigating life as a wheelchair user has led him to a career advocating for marginalised voices and campaigning for meaningful change. He also explores why the new government should consider this moment as an opportunity to reimagine the health and care system.

The new resource from Resolve Poverty reveals the scale and nature of poverty across Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria. The Poverty Monitor is a free, easy-to-navigate tool which provides data across six themes: poverty and deprivation, education, fuel and food insecurity, housing and homelessness, the labour market, and social security and debt.

Scope has launched the new Scope Disability Community Energy Service Team, in partnership with gas distribution network Cadent. They will be working in local communities across the Greater Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent area. The new team of local energy advisors will be delivering presentations to groups, charities and at community events. They’ll be offering face-to-face guidance on energy bills, tariffs and discounts, local grants and energy efficiency.

Faith and Belief organisations and networks contribute in many different ways to society, especially to those most disadvantaged. This includes people experiencing homelessness as well as those seeking asylum, refugees and other migrants, many of whom are facing such challenging times. 

GMCA would like to bring together Faith and Belief representatives to explore what support is being provided, learn from others and share good practice. To enable greater collaboration, now and in the future, we will also share updates and get feedback on GMCA’s plans and activity in relation to migration and homelessness, including the development of a GM Migration and Inclusion Strategy.

Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) invite you to join our commercial team in an informal setting to learn about how to win business with public sector organisations, and to support suppliers and potential suppliers in learning more about the new Procurement Act that will be introduced by Government in February 2025.

The day will be split into two sessions and will include workshops to share information with attendees on how to enhance their opportunities to win business from the public sector. Admission is free, but numbers are limited (2 attendees maximum per organisation) so early booking is recommended.

Beeline is a ground-breaking tool to give young people real-time information on the jobs available in the MBacc gateways sectors, alongside guidance on the most relevant subjects, courses and qualifications on offer at 14, 16 and 18. The tool links these career suggestions directly to current vacancies through the Adzuna jobs website, along with salary details, helping students understand where a technical education can take them and visualise potential career paths in various sectors.
