There is a multitude of data related to poverty and deprivation at a local level in Greater Manchester, but knowing how to
identify the most relevant figures for your work or the most up-to-date statistics can be a challenge. On this course we
give attendees the time to look at what different datasets tell us about poverty in Greater Manchester and to consider
how they can develop a stronger understanding of poverty and deprivation at a local level by exploring a range of data
sources. By the end of this course participants will have a good understanding of poverty levels and trends in Greater
Manchester and the confidence to assess and utilise a range of different datasets and tools.
Who is the event for:
This course is for organisations and individuals who wish to strengthen the case for their work by presenting accurate and
relevant data about poverty in Greater Manchester to colleagues, funders, supporters and policy makers. It is suitable for
people who work in the VCSE, public and private sectors who are not data analysts or statisticians, but who require a good
knowledge of levels of poverty in Greater Manchester and how to access relevant data sources. It is also suitable for
researchers who wish to develop a baseline understanding of poverty and deprivation across the city region.
