The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) are inviting the public to comment on a draft copy of the Gender Based Abuse Strategy: The Greater Manchester Strategy to Tackle Violence Against Women & Girls. By clicking on the hyperlink you can find out more and have your say directly.
GMCA have committed to a full consultation on the Strategy by May/June 21 at the earliest, in preparation for this we are teaming up with The Pankhurst Trust to create space and time to consider the draft strategy and hear from diverse women who have thoughts, views and experiences they would like to be fed back to GMCA at this stage.
These conversations are open to all, and we are particularly keen to listen to the diverse needs of women over 50, as it has been identified that the perspectives and priority needs of this group are needed to fill gaps in the current data and experiences.
The focus groups will include reflections from the Pankhurst Trust on the need for an holistic and integrated Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy, from the Age Friendly Manchester Board on older people and their experience of and need for Domestic Abuse services and from Stockport Without Abuse on their experience of the barriers facing older people accessing existing services. Plus there will be smaller break out sessions to anonymously capture reflections, views and experiences to widen the voices and feedback on the strategy at this stage.
Please register to express your interest in attending and a member of the team will be in touch with further details including the virtual joining details for focus groups on 14th and 22nd April.
