The Student Commission on Racial Justice is a national youth-led project that gives thousands of young people a voice on racial justice. Leaders Unlocked has partnered with 10 leading colleges in England, to bring over 40 of their students together to form the student commission.
In 2021, the commission reached over 2,600 other young people via an online survey and in-depth interview. They explored their experiences of racial disparities across four key areas of society - education, employment, health and policing and justice. Based on their findings and work with key stakeholders the students have developed national recommendations for change which will be delivered in a final report on: Thursday June 17th.
This event presents an opportunity for stakeholders to hear the students present their findings and recommendations and directly engage with them about their and other young peoples’ experiences of racial inequality.
The partnering colleges are: Barnsley College, Birmingham Metropolitan College, Kirklees College, Lambeth College, Leyton Sixth Form College, London South East Colleges, Long Road Sixth Form College, New City College, The Sheffield College, York College.
