Guest Speaker: Dorcas Onabanjo

Dorcas is a mental health professional and global health advocate with a background in non-profit management and health communications. Passionate about health inequalities, Dorcas spends her down time working as the Mental Health Lead for House of Cinn, a social enterprise whose mission is to build community with rough sleepers through baking cinnabons.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and a postgraduate diploma in Global Public Health and Policy and is currently undergoing a Masters in Psychology. As an Assistant Psychologist her background in the advocacy of marginalised communities, development and learning allows her to speak about mental health through both lived experience and an academic lens.

This session is open to all Trafford residents from ethnic minority communities, and will focus on the mental health of young people from ethnic minority backgrounds. We’ll cover:

Why we need to talk about ethnic minority mental health;
Specific issues relating to young people;
Stigma, myths and discrimination;
Starting conversations about mental health;
Our guest speaker, Dorcas Onabanjo, is passionate about health inequalities and young people's mental health and will share her experiences of lockdown and how she looked after her health and wellbeing;
