Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation

Greater Manchester Survey of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector – please help us!

UPDATE 24/11 - Thank you to everyone who has particpated so far.  If you have not yet taken part, the deadline has been extended to 18/12/16 so please use this extended opportuntity and help us to represent the VCSE.

This survey is intended to collect some up-to-date information about the contribution, scope, nature and experiences of the VCSE sector in Greater Manchester. It will also allow us to track changes since the last such survey in 2013. The anonymised findings will be shared with you and made public, and we hope to use them to improve support for local organisations and to advocate for you in the context of Greater Manchester and devolution.

The 2013 survey State of the GM VCSE 2013 came up with some astonishing headlines - almost 15,000 organisations, contributing £1.7b pa to the economy and enabling 1.1m volunteering hours pw. The information was very widely read and has helped us raise the profile of VCSE organisations, and make the case for their importance.

GMCVO is again working with the Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research (CRESR), at Sheffield Hallam University and other local partners. The survey can be accessed here: GM State of the VCSE Sector Survey. Please note you may receive this request from more than once source, but need only complete it once.

Your responses will remain completely confidential and anonymous. It should take around twenty minutes to complete the survey. To complete the finance section it’s fine to provide estimates if you don’t have exact figures. If you have questions please email alex.whinnom@gmcvo.org.uk or you can contact the research team directly via email at CRESR@shu.ac.uk

Thank you very much for your time and support. It is greatly appreciated.

Please also note that a second survey by IPPR covering the whole of the north is also still live until early November. This one is mainly about the “mood” of the voluntary sector and how you are preparing for the future. This link will take you straight to the survey questionnaire on a secure server: https://durham.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/third-sector-trends-in-north-west-england-2016. If you have any queries please email Tony Chapman Tony.Chapman@Durham.ac.uk
