Local to Global - Celebrating Women Changemakers in Greater Manchester and Beyond

Greater Manchester is packed with global thinkers, changemakers and innovators - many of whom are women!
Join us for a day of celebration and showcasing diverse women changemakers..... proudly sponsored by Flourish Together CIC and The Zebra Partnership. It takes place at the Radisson Blu Edwardian hotel which is the former Free Trade Hall and home to the first Suffragette meetings held by Emmeline Pankhurst.

Immerse yourself in an inspiring day of personal development, exploring social ventures led by women trailblazers positively impacting communities and society one step at a time - get to heart of social issues that matter to women and learn from the innovative ways inwhich diverse, everyday women are seeking to tackle them.

The ticket price includes:

  • A 4 hour learning, development & celebration event with fantastic speakers and networking opportunities, including lunch and refreshments at the Radisson Edwardian Blu Hotel
  • 3 hours of experiential learning and journeys to social ventures in the area
  • A drink on arrival and nibbles at our evening celebration event at the Old Abbey Taphouse

Whilst this event is targeting women to attend and showcasing women changemakers this is not a women only event. We are encouraging all communities, agencies and those interested in learning more about social enterprise, innovation and leadership from across the public, private and VCSE sectors to come and get involved in what is sure to be a productive and inspiring journey.

THE MORNING & MAIN EVENT: 11am - 2pm
Starts at The Radisson Edwardian Blu Hotel's Emmeline Pankhurst Suite with a range of speakers, a lively and candid panel session, thematic discussions and collaborative probem solving - Imagine families, communities and society where all women were empowered to flourish?!

Contributors include:

Kathy Wong - Founder and Chief Energy Officer of Moeloco - Flip Flops that are good for the Soul and Sole! Her desire with Moeloco is to create a heart centered community of engaged individuals wanting to be the change they see in the world.

Jo Taylor - Founder ABCDiagnosis, Supporting primary and secondary breast cancer patients make informed choices with information and up to date news on treatments, breast surgeries, consultants. Jo epitomises living well with secondary breast cancer and champions physical exercise as a route to positive lifestyles and emotional wellbeing.

Haleh Moravej - Founder METMunch and senior lecturer in Nutritional Sciences at Manchester Metropolitan University. MET MUnch is a global award winning student led social enterprise which promotes sustainable, health and nutritious food in creative, entertaining and innovative ways.

Carol Ann Whitehead - Co-founder The Zebra Partnership. Carol Ann is a communications expert that has had over twenty years of organising events of all shapes and sizes from 8 to 8000, indoors and outdoors, here in the U.K. and overseas, owned her own theatre school plus experience of developing and organising five royal visits since 2004. An advocate for womens rights and inclusivity, Carol Ann has collaborated with feminist charity FiLiA to bring their globally recognised annual conference to Manchester for 2018.

THE AFTERNOON: 2-5pm
Go on a 'Trailblazer Learning Journey' which will immerse you in the world of social changemakers from Greater Manchester to learn, reflect, gain tips, insights and connections. We are convening 3 thematic learning pathays:

1) Food and Sustainability pathway - visit social ventures and hear from changemakers across these sectors-Led by Jo McGrath, Co Founder of Flourish Together CIC and Founder of Enterprise Stuff

2) Health and Wellbeing pathway - visit social ventures and hear from changemakers across these sectors - Led by Nickala Torkington, Co Founder of Flourish Together CIC

3) Creative & Digital pathway - visit social ventures and hear from changemakers across these sectors - Led by Carol Ann Whitehead, Co Founder of The Zebra Partnership

THE EVENING: 5-7pm
Culminates in a grand finale at The Old Abbey Taphouse a STEAM Hub and Community Pub in their outdoor festival tent where we will be announcing this beneficiaries of this year's crowdfund seedfunding awards! With a drink on arrival we can reflect and compare stories of the day, celebrate our local to global network of women changemakers and enjoy some live music.
