GMCVO has awarded £10,000 to eight new social entrepreneurs through the Lead the Change programme.
GMCVO has partnered with UnLtd, which has funding through the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation to offer a programme of support and seed funding for social entrepreneurs who wish to try out an idea, start a new enterprise or grow an existing enterprise.
GMCVO sent a call out in November via community hubs and the Greater Manchester Black and Minority Ethnic Network and received an excellent response from applicants, demonstrating the level of growth and enthusiasm in social enterprise.
On the day of the awards, in mid-December, the applicants presented their ideas to the panel – who were chosen for their expertise in this sector – and in turn received advice and support to enable them to generate new ideas for their enterprise. Following the award of the grant funding, the recipients will receive ongoing support through workshops and peer networking to grow their social enterprise further.
We will be featuring some of the award winners in the coming months to showcase their enterprises and highlight their progress.
