On Wednesday 19th May 2021, we were excited to welcome members of the Greater Manchester Funders Forum BAME Communities Collaboration group to hear from Joe Fearns from the Baobab Foundation.
Joe gave a short presentation on the purpose, aims and activity of the Baobab Foundation so far.
Between January and July 2021, the Baobab Foundation will be hosting conversations with Black and Ethnic Minority communities across the country so that they can develop our strategy and make sure everyone's voice is heard. When they launch in late 2021 they will open for funding applications and the decisions about those awards will be made by their members because their believe a funder's job is to put power in the hands of those closest to community. By the time they launch, they expect their membership to have grown to several hundred organisations.
Following Joe’s presentation, there was a chance for attendees to ask any questions and to reflect on what they would take away from the meeting back to their own organisations.
Thank you to Joe for speaking at what was a very interesting meeting.
