Age UK Tameside have received investment to rejuvenate and promote their 131 social clubs, enabling them to reach more older people and contribute to reducing social isolation in Tameside.
Age UK Tameside provide specialised support and services to almost 10,000 older people in Tameside each year. The £98,000 investment will be used to recruit a club promoter to engage with older people in Tameside and support them to join and attend activities, enabling them to thrive mentally, emotionally and physically, and live independent lives.
The investment will also be used to upgrading furnishings and fittings at their centre, as well as staff training to ensure staff are equipped to support a wide range of older people across the borough.

The investment has been made as part of the Enterprising Communities Fund, a unique partnership between GMCVO, The Greater Manchester Credit Union Consortium, Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Access – The Foundation for Social Investment and Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
