GMCVO to support review of The Prince’s Trust programme that aims to transform young people’s lives in Greater Manchester

GMCVO are working with Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN) to provide a peer evaluation of the provisions and effectiveness of The Prince’s Trusts Future Workforce Fund which aims to transform the lives of thousands of young people across Greater Manchester.

The evaluation will consider how well connected The Prince’s Trust offer is with other youth provision available in Greater Manchester, with the aim of understanding what might be impacting young people’s chances of connecting with employment, education and training opportunities. It will review the impact of The Prince’s Trust provision in supporting positive progression for young people post age 16, as well the effectiveness of their outreach.

It aims to provide a deeper and more local insight into the linkage between the Trust’s offer and the network of other provision that supports young people across the city-region.

GMYN’s Youth Panel are a group of young people who have experienced barriers to employment. They initially came together to support delivery and evaluation of Greater Manchester’s Hidden Talent; a youth employment programme led by GMCVO until June 2022. They will be joined by members of GMYN’s Leadership Group to undertake this work.

Overseen and supported by GMYN, the Youth Panel will conduct interviews and focus groups with past and present participants of the Future Workforce Fund programme. GMCVO will then bring together the findings to produce a final evaluation report in December 2022.

Gavin Owen, Programme Manager, GMCVO said: “We are delighted to be partnering once again with GMYN after our work on GMCVO’s past employability programmes, Talent Match and Greater Manchester’s Hidden Talent. Central to both programmes was the voice and experience of young people, so we are pleased that The Prince’s Trust commissioned this project and look forward to hearing the views, aspirations and future plans of the Young People on the Future Workforce Fund programme.”

The Prince’s Trust believes that every young person should have the chance to succeed, and aims to transform their lives by providing practical, pastoral, and financial support, given them the confidence to live, learn and earn. Find out more on The Prince's Trust's website.
