Our new portfolio highlights the different ways the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector is creating a fairer and more inclusive economy in Greater Manchester.
Greater Manchester has set out its ambition to be a net zero city region by 2038 - 12 years ahead of the national target.
We want to ensure that the move towards a net zero city region is done in a way that is as fair and inclusive as possible for everyone.
Part 2 of this portfolio series highlights examples of where community organisations and social enterprises in Greater Manchester are carrying out project and activities that contribute to a ‘just transition’.
For example, the Northern Lily GROWE project has created space for community members in Oldham to come together and participate in an equitable way. The project, a community orchard, is designed to be sustainable and biodiverse – an example of how nature can be integrated into urban areas.
Greater Manchester Moving are providing a platform that engages people, communities and organisations to move more. They are supporting the move to net zero in a just way by engaging with communities to encourage walking and cycling, creating sustainable change in community active travel.
This portfolio series is produced by GMCVO on behalf of the Inclusive Economy working group of the GM VCSE Leadership Group. This is working towards the commitments of the GM VCSE Accord.
Part 1 of the series demonstrated how the sector is creating an inclusive economy through Community Ownership. Read this here.
