A report titled "Keeping the Faith: What survivors from Faith Communities want us to know" was recently launched by the Faith and VAWG Coalition. (www.standingtogether.org.uk/faith-vawg). The Faith & VAWG Coalition is a partnership of organisations led by the Faith and Communities Programme at Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse. It seeks to build bridges between members of faith Communities or faith-centric organisations and domestic abuse prevention specialists and organisations within the violence against women and girls’ sector.
The report highlights the needs of survivors of abuse who have Faith backgrounds, and in particular the ways in which they are often failed by statutory services who don't understand their faith needs. It also highlights the need for Faith leaders to be trained to give trauma informed support.
