The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service 2022

The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK. It was created in 2002 to celebrate the anniversary of the Queen's Coronation. It is the MBE for volunteer groups and is awarded for life. It is awarded to outstanding groups of volunteers whose level of initiative and impact are truly exceptional. Each group is assessed on the benefit it brings to the local community and its standing within that community. Volunteers are expected to be leading its work. Nominations for the 2022 Award can be submitted until 15 September, 5 pm.

The Proud Trust, a specialist LGBT+ charity for young people based in Manchester, has been honoured with The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK. Offering regular youth groups and a huge range of support services in the North West and beyond, The Proud Trust is the UK’s largest LGBT+ charity for young people. It relies heavily on the support of volunteers who can assist the charity in anything from youth work to mentorship.
