Rochdale Equalities Report

Rochdale Equalities Report published following the first partnership Rochdale Borough Equalities Assembly.

The first Rochdale Equalities Report has been published following on from the borough’s first Equalities Assembly, a series of conversations to help improve our understanding of inequalities and how they can be reduced.

The Assembly was a partnership piece of work between Action Together, Rochdale Borough Council and other local organisations including Healthwatch Rochdale.

62 participants from local, statutory, and voluntary organisations took part in the discussions around the following 8 conversation topics:

  • Covid 19 and South Asian Communities

  • Food and Dignity

  • Disability and Covid 19

  • Covid 19 and Black Communities

  • Covid 19, Mental Health and Inequality

  • Covid 19 and European Citizens

  • Finance and Inequality

  • Health and Inequality

The Assembly included presentations from Public Health on ‘Reducing Disparities and Inequalities’ and Healthwatch Rochdale on ’What people are telling us about Covid 19’. The links to the presentation are available in the report.

The report outlines the main themes explored in each conversation and identifies additional topics for future Assemblies. A follow up conversation on Age is to take place on Monday 17th August and the second Equalities Assembly will be held on Tuesday 13th October.
