Secondment opportunity: Mental Health Crisis Connectors

Through the Crisis Alternative Fund, Greater Manchester Health and Social Care partnership (GMHSCP) has secured a total of £80,000 to fund two mental health Crisis Connector posts (one in the West (Bolton, Manchester, Salford, Trafford, Wigan) and one in the East (Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside) for an (initial) twelve-month period. These posts will be managed by the System Lead for VCSE Integration who sits within the mental health team at the Health and Social Care partnership.

These are connector roles, building relationships and ensuring that the correct pathways exist so those in mental health crisis do not automatically default to A&E and other clinical services. They will be charged with building the connections between a localities’ statutory crisis system and the respective VCSE eco-system in that area.

The GMHSCP would like to recruit these posts through secondment from existing VCSE organisations across Greater Manchester (one from the west and one from the East). These would be full-time twelve-month secondments, with the opportunity to extend if further funding is identified. Applicants should be driven passionate individuals with a strategic mind and an ability to see the 'golden thread' that should bind services together. They should be tenacious and daring but also personable and approachable. These posts are about relationships, and applicants need to be able to build connections and furnish trust.

Please refer to the attached document to find out more about these opportunities.

If you have a suitable member of staff that you are willing to be seconded for twelve months into either the east or west post we would ask that you initially contact Stewart Lucas at S.lucas@mind.org.uk. Interested organisations will be asked to put together a brief expression of interest (no longer than a single side of A4) by 9am on Tuesday 5th April stating the name of the proposed secondee and their experience and attributes. It is hoped that informal interviews will be conducted during the week of the 11th April, with the expectation to start the successful secondees early May.
