On Wednesday 19th May 2021, we welcomed members of the GM Funders Forum to a briefing session to hear from GMCVO staff members, Clare Bonetree and Kirsty Bagnall, who spoke about a spatial approach to working with marginalised communities.
The approach considers the size and geographical distribution of different communities as a way of engaging them in group activities. It was developed by our Equalities Board team based at the LGBT Foundation following a review of the Ambition for Ageing programme from an equalities perspective.
Attendees learnt how to understand and use this new method of mapping inequality to effectively design and fund work with members of marginalised communities.
The presentation slides from the session can be downloaded below.
Briefing sessions hosted by the GM Funders Forum are a chance for members to hear more about topics that are important to them to help in their work. The next session will be Tuesday 15th June on the Greater Manchester Independent Inequalities Commission – click here for more information.
