Beverley Hughes, Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester has written an open letter thanking and supporting the GM VCSE sector for its work during the pandemic.
Over the course of the lockdowns it’s been flagged up that volunteers, and the organisations they volunteer for, have some nervousness around the perception of their work and the risk of being fined by the police for not observing the lockdown rules. In response to this, the Deputy Mayor in her capacity as Policing and Crime lead to provide reassurance, and the send positive reinforcement in support of all those who are volunteering to help our communities at this time.
Her letter provides clarification on the national guidelines relating to voluntering during the pandemic as well as providing an assurance that fines would not be imposed on VCSE organisations who continue to carry out their vital work in communities during lockdown by Greater Manchester Police.
