This recording of our virtual employer workshop offers recruiters, managers and workplace mentors advice on how to create inductions that take into consideration young people's relative lack of work experience.
Every career has a starting point and it is entirely natural that the world of work can initially be a confusing place. Implicit rules and behaviours may not be obvious unless explained, and processes / systems for holidays, sickness, pay etc. can be misunderstood, leading to issues that could easily have been avoided.
Our workshop brought together Talent Coaches (employability professionals who provide one-to-one support to young people on GM's Hidden Talent) and employers to share their experiences and good practice around how to help young people settle into a first job or new role.
Linked to the workshop, we produced the attached (below) two-page list of tips will help employers who employ / intend to employ young people who have limited or no experience of the workplace.
