GM Equality Alliance Update

At our September meeting we look forward to welcoming the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) who will be discussing their research findings on Artificial Intelligence and the Public Sector Equality Duty, sharing what good practice looks like at a Local Authority level.

If you would like to attend a GM=EqAl meeting to inform our members on a specific topic, disseminate information via our members’ VCSE sector networks, seek advice for a community engagement strategy, request action from GM=EqAl members, receive feedback on a proposed action or policy, or gather intelligence on a specific issue, we would love to hear from you. Greater Manchester Faith and Belief Advisory Panel Facilitation
 

Greater Manchester Combined Authority is seeking to provide contract funding for the facilitation of the Faith and Belief Advisory Panel.

The Panel’s aim is to strengthen the partnership between public services, Faith, Interfaith and Belief organisations and wider society through collaboration on shared missions, unlocking assets and resources in Greater Manchester communities and ensuring that the role of Faith and Belief in society is recognised and valued.

Addressing Inequalities in Business Support - Call for Evidence
 

GMCA plan to use some of the UK Shared Prosperity Funding  (UKSPF) to trial experimental approaches to addressing inequalities in the availability, access, experience and outcomes of local business support.

To inform this they are gathering evidence from key stakeholders about where inequalities in accessing and benefitting from business support services currently exist and how these inequalities could be effectively reduced.

Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales research project

The Lloyds Bank Foundation is researching equity and user-led organisations to better understand their role in supporting people to overcome complex issues and barriers. They’ll be recruiting an advisory group to bring in expertise from lived experience leaders and the by-and-for sector. Futures For All Exhibition

4th September - 29th September

A unique exhibition is opening in Manchester Central Library with the aim to change attitudes towards disability-inclusive workplaces in Greater Manchester.

The exhibition includes the premiere of nine films showing the working lives of young people who have graduated from SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) schools in the city-region and are thriving in the workplace.

GMCVO’s commitment to open and trusting grant-making
 

IVAR and London Funders, in collaboration with a small group of UK foundations and charities are calling on funders to adopt simpler, more flexible practices that make life easier for those they fund. Their ambition is to see these commitments become standard practice in the sector.

GMCVO has now joined over 100 funders who have signed up to their eight commitments and joined a community of practice with other funders and charities to improve practice together.
