GM Equality Alliance Update

At this week's April Working Group meeting, GM=EqAl will be consulted on the vision and goals of the Greater Manchester Transport Strategy 2040 with colleagues from Transport for Greater Manchester. We will also be joined by researchers from the University of Manchester who will be discussing their evaluation of NHS virtual ward services ('hospital from home') in Greater Manchester.

Facilitation of Greater Manchester Race Equality Panel
 

Greater Manchester Combined Authority is seeking to provide contract funding for the facilitation of the Greater Manchester Race Equality Panel. The Race Equality Panel is one of seven Equality Panels established to advise, support and challenge Greater Manchester’s political leaders and policymakers, and champion Greater Manchester as an inclusive city-region. The contracted party will manage the day-to-day running of the Panel, with strategic support from GMCA officers, to achieve our shared ambitions of strong and effective community engagement, that contributes to a broad tackling inequalities agenda.

Pay and Conditions in the GM VCSE Sector Survey
 

The GM VCSE Workforce Development Programme (led by 10GM) is gathering information about pay and conditions in Greater Manchester’s VCSE Organisations. This will be used to help understand where the sector stands with pay and conditions compared to other sectors, it will help drive improvements, and provide support for the sector with salary benchmarking.

GM Gender-Based Violence Board

The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Board has been established by GMCA to drive and oversee implementation of the city-region’s ten-year Gender-Based Violence Strategy. It is tasked with ensuring ongoing collaboration of public sector agencies, partners including from the voluntary and community sector, and the communities of Greater Manchester, to deliver systemic change in order to reduce and eradicate gender-based violence.

The Greater Manchester Steering Group sets the overall strategic direction for GM Digital through the GM Digital Blueprint. Ensuring that the collective resources and capabilities that are available to Greater Manchester are aligned and leveraged effectively, to ensure the ambitions defined in the GM Digital Blueprint are delivered.

Looking for Disabled people in Manchester who use assistive technology to take part in research
 

Opencast Software  are looking for some disabled people in Manchester who use assistive technology to take part in research with Opencast Software researchers in Manchester in late May/June.

Participation is voluntary and they participants will receive a £50 voucher.

Exploring our sector's role in the Greater Manchester devolution single settlement - a working session for strategic thinkers

The VCFSE sector has an important role to play in the devolution journey of Greater Manchester. In November 2023 the Mayor of Greater Manchester and GMCA signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with HM Treasury that outlined the five pillars of a Single Funding Settlement for Greater Manchester. 

As part of GMCVO's work around the GM VCSE Accord, they have arranged this session for their sector's strategic thinkers to meet with GMCA Policy Teams to discuss our sector's aspirations from this Settlement.
