The Living Wage Foundation wants to interview low paid workers and Living Wage Employers/Funders as part of a research report on low pay in the third sector.
The research report on low pay in the third sector will follow the Foundation’s 'Low pay in the third sector briefing paper' published in September 2021. This follow-up research aims to provide a more detailed picture of low pay in the sector, as well as looking at insecure work for the first time, the subsectors and the types of workers most likely to be impacted, key drivers for these and how employers and the wider sector should act to address these issues.
The voices of low paid workers will play an essential role to the research report, and their lived experiences will be embedded throughout. Therefore the Foundation are looking to interview third sector workers who are either currently paid below the Living Wage or who were previously not paid the Living Wage. If there are employees in your organisation who used to be paid below the Living Wage, either in their current role or in previous employment, the Foundation are keen to make contact with them.
The interviews will be conducted over Zoom and last 30 minutes. The interviewee will be free to exit the interview at any point and all answers can be anonymised. All workers will be subsidised for their time with a £25 voucher.
Interviews will take place late February and early March, with some flexibility depending on participant availability.
The report will also feature examples of current best practice from Living Wage Employers and Living Wage Funders in order to celebrate the network and encourage more organisations to join the movement. This will include case studies and practical advice on the accreditation process, and acknowledging both the benefits and challenges to signing up.
